Etched Emu Eggs
As a fundraiser for Art Spectacular, members of Green Bay Art
Colony were given Emu Eggs to decorate and then donate to
the event.  Having no clue what to do, I experimented with
printmaking etching techniques on the eggs and developed a
process that etches deeper into the layers of the emu egg
shell (the outer layer is darkest, the inner layer the lightest), and
I have been creating Emu Egg designs ever since.  The
designs are the natural colors of the shells revealed by the
etching process--no paint is used.
